Hot Tubs and Spring Maintenance

Inner-Page-Hero

Spring is in the air. Well, it will be soon enough, which means it’s time to think about all of the spring maintenance that needs to be done. After all, your gutters are full of leaves, there are dead plants in your yard and you should really clean out the hot tub you bought from Spa Max.

Let’s be honest, owning a home isn’t always a walk in the park. It seems as though as soon as you finish one project, there is another one that needs to be done. It is quite impossible to get through that to-do list. This is why you need to get a head start on your spring maintenance chores.

Maintaining a happy and healthy home is much more than occasional dusting and vacuuming. Seriously, when was the last time you checked the batteries in your smoke detector? There are a few things you should be doing this spring to ensure a safe and trouble-free household.

Check Lawn Equipment

Check all of your power equipment to ensure that everything is ready to go this summer. The last thing you want is a lawnmower that won’t start when you need it.

So fire up the lawnmower, weed whacker and all of the other gadgets you use to keep your yard looking spiffy and make sure they work correctly.

Service Your Air Conditioner

Spring is the perfect time of year to have your air conditioner inspected. A clean air conditioner will run more efficiently and will keep you cool and comfortable all summer long.

Clean the Disposal

Try not to think about all of the nasty stuff you stuffed down your garbage disposal over the winter. Whenever you cleaned out the refrigerator, the disposal is where you dumped the moldy cheese, sour milk and rotting lettuce.

Cleaning your disposal is actually quite easy. All you need to do is feed it ice cubes while it is running. You can also drop a few lemon or orange peels down it to make it smell fresh and citrus-like.

Replace Filters

There are filters throughout your home that need to be replaced this spring. Any HVAC filters you have need to be replaced as well as any filters you have in your kitchen hood system.

Vacuum Under the Refrigerator

There will be a shocked look on your face when you pull the refrigerator out. This is because it is a dusty, dirty mess under there. Sweep and mop under the fridge and don’t forget to wipe down the coil.

Clean Your Siding

Improve the look of your home and increase curb appeal by cleaning the siding on your house. And while you are doing so, be on the lookout for any damage that may have occurred over the winter.

Clean the Dryer Vent

A clogged dryer vent can become a fire hazard. Disconnect the dryer vent and use a vent brush to clear it from dirt and debris. You then need to go outside and check the vent cover to ensure it is properly functioning.

Clean the Grill

Your grill may not have had the workout it gets in the summer, but it still needs to be cleaned this spring.

Test Alarms

Spring is the time of year that you should be checking all of your smoke detectors and CO detectors. You need to replace the batteries as necessary. If the detector is 10 years old or older, it should be replaced right away.

Trim Overgrowth

Spring is the time of year to trim the trees and shrubbery on your property. You will want to start om this right away before the leaves fill out and make the job more difficult.

Clean the Gutters

You may have just cleaned your gutters last fall. If so, then you still need to clean them again this spring. You see, your gutter should be cleaned at least twice a year. Dirty gutters lead to pools of water, which can lead to damage to your home. You don’t want that.

Check the Roof

While you are cleaning the gutters, make sure there is no visible damage to your roof. Torn or missing shingles should be replaced.
