Hot Tubs and Epic Parties

Inner-Page-Hero

It’s Friday and we are heading into a three-day weekend. Awesome. What’s even more awesome is the fact that you have decided to host a barbecue party this weekend. Good for you.

There is only one problem, you haven’t really planned anything and you are not sure if the party will be a success. Well, let’s see how we can help.

First of all, you have a hot tub from Spa Max, that’s a good start as it gives people something to do should all else fail. Here are a few tips that will ensure an epic barbecue.

The Guests

This might already be too late, but we hope you invited the right people to your party. Now, you don’t need a Venn diagram to break down who should and who should not come to your party, go with your gut instinct. And don’t invite people nobody likes, like Phil from the sales department at work. He is the one who starts every conversation with “yo, dog” and refers to everybody as “Brah.”

The people you do want to invite should be level-headed, like-minded folks who don’t boast about being vegan and won’t talk about Crossfit the whole time. And they sure as heck better not bring up three topics: Politics, football and politics influencing football.

Greet Them Like Royalty

If Prince Harry and his new bride were to crash your barbecue party, would you hand them a bag of Doritos and Coors beer in a can? We hope not. We also hope you will treat your guests better than this, nobody deserves to arrive at a party and be offered Coors and Doritos, even if they are the spicy nacho flavored ones.

True hospitality means welcoming your guests with something made for them right there on the spot and delivered to them as they enter your front door. This could be a margarita and an oyster or a refreshing mojito with fresh mint and a skirt steak street taco.

The key here is to get off on the right foot by making your guests feel awesome the second they step into your home.

Think Big

When it comes to the food you will be serving at your party, think big. In an ideal situation, the food is always coming, it never stops.

You already started them off with something as they entered your home, now take them out back to a table filled with classic deviled eggs, smoked salmon and shrimp cocktail. If you want to go a little crazy, have two bowls of caviar. The whole idea here is that nobody should be going hungry before the main meal is served.

Music Does Matter

No matter how perfect your cocktails are and how tender the brisket is, people aren’t going to be having a good time if the music isn’t right.

There are a few things to keep in mind when putting together your party’s soundtrack. First of all, you need a good mix of music from all genres and all decades, except country-western, of course. That is, make sure you play some good music from the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s and so on without being too heavy in one decade. Also, it is important to mix in a jazz tune between your hair bands and to give some quality play time to Joe Jackson, Sarah Vaughan and Genesis. That would be Genesis when Peter Gabriel was lead singer, not Phil Collins.

And never sneak a death metal song in the mix, people will notice when a Cannibal Corpse song is being played.

Decor

Yes, you do need to decorate if you expect an epic party. No, you don’t decorate with balloons and crepe paper, this isn’t your kid’s birthday party.

All you really need to do is place some lights in strategic places so the yard is lit up enough for people to see their way clearly. You might want some fresh flowers on tables and a fire pit lit and inviting.

Tiki torches are kitschy and fun. They are also functional as they keep bugs away.

As you can see, it’s quite easy to throw an epic barbecue this three-day weekend. If you don’t have a hot tub, head on over to Spa Max and talk to Rick.
